Tourists in the Forbidden City – Beijing, China – Daily Photo

Many of my photographs, even at crowded locations, don’t have any people in them because I patiently waited for crowds to move on. Sometimes that isn’t possible, but I have also learned to appreciate that the colors in the crowd can be part of the palette. This photo shows some Chinese tourists at the Forbidden City. The majority of the tourists in China are from China itself because of the rising standard of living.

My family gets very impatient with me waiting to get a shot without other people in it. I expect at the Forbidden City that I would have to resign myself to the crowds in my photo – the colours of the crowd are quite nice against the backdrop of the building.
