She visits the ruins of Termessos, the carpet shops of Ankara, Myra-rock-tombs, Lycian fishing villages, and cheese makers in Ayas. She also describes the color of Istanbul including the Grand Bazaar, the fishermen on the bridges on the way to Galata tower, the historic Hippodrome, the twisty streets of Sultanahmet, the granduer of Haigh-Sophia.

Song

Ann says this about this weeks song:

I picked one with a Saz. :> The fellow who
made the recording (Bora Ozkok) was one of the dance
instructors for the folk dance troup I was in many
years ago.

Kendime means by myself. Some of the lyrics are:

I asked the lamb about my problem –it baa’d,
I asked the fox–it lied,
I confided in the nightingale– it did not help.

Chorus
I couldn’t find a single cure for my ailment,
I asked and searched by myself, just myself.
Tell me my saz,
Yelelelliiii, yelelelli

I made friends with the earth and made dust.
With the wind, I roamed the hills,
I became rain and came down the mountains.

Chorus
I couldn’t find a single cure for my ailment,
I asked and searched by myself, just myself.
Tell me my saz,
Yelelelliiii, yelelelli

Sort of a blues-style. Make yourself feel better by
singing about your troubles.

Cheers,
Ann
