Travel to Queensland’s Sunshine Coast – Episode 353

categories: australia travel

Hear about Queensland’s Sunshine Coast as the Amateur Traveler talks to Annabel Candy from GetInTheHubspot.com about her adopted home on the Sunshine Coast of Australia.

Queensland’s Sunshine Coast is about an hour and a half drive north of Brisbane Australia and stretches for another hour and a half up the coast.

The Sunshine Coast is quite different from the Gold Coast south of Brisbane. Annabel says, “The Gold Coast is a bit more like Florida or Las Vegas, it’s got tower blocks, it’s kind of the party scene. It’s all happening on the Gold Coast and there’s a lot of theme parks there. The Sunshine Coast is more laid back. Where I live in Noosa no building can be over 3 stories. So it’s more low rise and a more natural beach setting.” The Sunshine Coast has white sandy beaches. The beach by Noosa is 25 miles long ending at the Noosa National Park.

Annabel takes us on a tour of the Sunshine Coast from the Australia Zoo (founded by the Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin) to hiking in the Glass House Mountains, from a promenade at the resorts at Mooloolaba to lunch at the Peregian Beach Surf Life Saving Restaurant. We will shop at Maleny and put a shrimp on the barbecue by the Noosa River. So prepare for a relaxing week including plenty of time just enjoying the beach.

I loved Fraser Island, world’s largest sand island, UNESCO-listed, tours careening across the island in 4DW buses driven by madcap drivers.

Really enjoyed the Sunshine Coast episode.  When one thinks Australia, one thinks Sydney, the Great Barrier, or Uluru.  I had not heard about the Sunshine Coast.  Australia is definitely in my “bucket list” and now there’s one more item in my “to do” list.  Always enjoy the show.  Cheers!

If going to Noosa take a day trip to Eumdi Markets http://www.eumundimarkets.com.au/ which is about 30 minutes drive away from Noosa.
